International train Number 8/7 between Kaliningrad and Gdynia and direct coach to Berlin cancelled.

The cancellation, which came into effect on January 25 and will remain in force until further notice, is due to the failure of the Polish customs authorities to conduct the requisite search procedures on the train at the Polish border station Braniewo.

An official statement by the Chief of the Customs Division at Braniewo says that it is impossible to carry out customs clearance on the Kaliningrad - Gdynia train “due to illness, and compensatory time off accorded to certain staff.”

Earlier in Poland and Germany, 30 passengers were unable to board the train, but were refunded the full value of their tickets and allowed to wait in the lounges at the Southern Station.

The lack of customs clearance by the Polish side is complicating the work of Kaliningrad Railways, where 558 freight wagons destined for delivery in Poland are now waiting. Another 500 wagons now on Belarusian and Lithuanian railways are on their way and are due to arrive in Kaliningrad in two or three days.
