Head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov holds conference call on Company's performance in November 2017

On 8 December 2017, Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways, summed up the Company's performance in November 2017 and for the 11 months to the end of November during a conference call.

Analysing production figures during January-November 2017, Belozerov noted that tariff freight turnover had increased by 6.5% compared to the previous year and by 6.1% when taking into account empty wagon runs of private cars. Loading volumes amounted to more than 1.151 billion tons of cargo, 3% more than last year.

Over the 11 months, more than 1.024 billion passengers travelled, 8.1% more than last year. Suburban passenger turnover increased by 2.8%. Long-distance passenger turnover increased in October and November and was higher than last year's level, but in the 11 months of 2017 as a whole it was nevertheless 1.8% lower than in 2016,

Oleg Belozerov again noted that this year had seen the Company’s labour productivity increasing at an increasing rate. In the 11 months to date, it rose by 9.4% compared to 2016. The average monthly wage increased by 7.7% and amounted to 50,264 roubles.

"We could not have achieved the current results and move forward without qualified and enterprising employees. I would like to remind everyone that faster increases in labour productivity create the conditions for increased wages," said the Company head.

Speaking about the work in December, Oleg Belozerov emphasised that it was necessary to focus efforts on ensuring stable work during the winter months, especially when transporting passengers during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Belozerov focused the attention of the rail network on the maintenance of snow-removal equipment, as well as on the qualitative preparation of passenger carriages and electric trains.
