Russian Railways Holding completes feasibility study on modernisation of Nagpur-Seunderabad stretch in India
Russian Railways has now completed a feasibility study on the modernization of the railway infrastructure along the 581-km Hagpur– Seunderabad rail section in India.
This project provides for increasing the speed of passenger trains to 200 kph, which will reduce train travel times en route from 10 to 4 hours.
As part of the project, Russian Railways International LLC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, has offered its Indian counterparts advanced Russian technical solutions in terms of track reconstruction, bridges, the contact network and traction substations, signal systems and traffic safety support.
The agreement to prepare a justification for the implementation of a high-speed connection along the Nagpur – Secunderabad section in order to increase train speeds to 200 kph was signed by Russian Railways and the India’s Ministry of Railways on 1 June 2017 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
